How do I obtain my certificate?

OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE FOR ALL ETAQ TRAINING COURSES
Step 1.
You or your employer need to contact - Earthmoving Training Assessing Queensland Pty Ltd. "ETAQ"- to establish your formal learning requirements and implement a relevant training plan. Formal training is defined as "training in the theoretical knowledge for the safe operation of Loadshift equipment." ETAQ offer a number of different ways to progress through the formal learning. Self paced or Face to Face. Formal learning classes occur at ETAQ as required. Please call and register if you wish to attend.

Step 2.
Once your formal learning is completed and you have been allocated a relevant training plan, you will need to be allocated a supervisor to mentor or guide you through your in-formal learning, commonly referred to as workplace training. This may be performed at your own workplace or at an ETAQ training facility. We can arrange a simulated workplace for you to perform your workplace training under the supervision of an accredited trainer. Within the unit of competence for Loadshift equipment, there is a suggested amount of time for the workplace training known as "nominal hours". As a trainee in any licence class, your goal should be to show competence to your supervisor in the areas laid out in your training plan. The time it takes you to show competence will vary depending upon your life experience and level of aptitude. Typically, a person that has driven Loadshift equipment in the past will be able to demonstrate competence in all the areas required in one day. As you progress through the tasks in the training plan, you must keep a written record of informal learning this is commonly referred to as a logbook. Your ETAQ training plan has a compliant logbook at the back. ETAQ workplace arranged training occurs as required. Please call and register if you wish to attend.

Step 3.
Once you have shown competence in the entire task list laid out in your training plan and have recorded all the required activities into your logbook, you are then eligible for assessment. ETAQ provides assessments for Loadshift equipment as required. Please call and register if you wish to attend. A group booking at your worksite may also be arranged for (1-8 Trainees). Before an assessment can occur you must have 100 points of identification available on the day.

Step 4.
On successful completion of your Loadshift equipment assessment you will be given an assessment summary form (AS-1 or AS-2). This will act as your temporary licence for a period of 14 days. Once you receive your nationally recognised "Statement of Attainment" in the operation of your specific Loadshift equipment, this will become your new temporary licence for a period of 60 days. You must provide one of these documents if asked for by a person of authority. Your Nationally recognised License will arrive at your listed postal address within this 74 day period. If after 74 days you havent recieved your license then please contact ETAQ to follow this up for you.

NOTE for Forklift operators only:

You will  be required to present yourself to an Australian post office with 100 points of I.D. your AS-1 form and your RTO issued Statement of Attainment which you will recieve after your final assessment for a Forklift license. ETAQ cannot process the required Forklift paperwork directly to Queensland Workplace Health and Safety on your behalf.

Specific details of how to apply will be explained during your Forklift training

Can I make a group booking with ETAQ?

Yes: ETAQ can provide a certified trainer/assessor to come to your site to train small groups from 1 to 8 people. The formal training is usually conducted in a training room or if on a jobsite a quite area away from the machinery, will cover all the elements within the performance criteria for this unit of competence including at least one safety DVD and a Power Point Presentation on the theory side of your specific Loadshift equipment.

On site assessments are performed in accordance with the Nationally Quality Training Framework once the Written assessment and the Training Plan/Logbook has been completed.

How long are the training courses?

Formal training can be up to 8 hrs and informal training/workplace training is a  "nominal 40 hours" if or as required. The written assessment can take up to 2 hours and practical assessment is usually about 1 hour. This would depend totally on the Trainee's abilities and the workplace conditions.

Please note that if the workplace conditions or the specific Loadshift equipment is not safe then the practical assessment can not take place until the conditions/equipment are made safe.

Where is the training held?

Training can be held at an ETAQ training facility or at your workplace and as we work throughout Queensland and Northern Territory the training venue can be negotiated.
